The 2016 Richie's Spirit Foundation (RSF) Significant Challenge College Scholarship Program received a record 2,500 applications from high school seniors from across the country. RSF will award three (3) grants totaling $3,500 recognizing first place ($2,000), runner-up ($1,000) and honorable mention ($500). Winners will be announced in the Spring of 2016.
Each year, RSF offers college scholarships to graduating high school seniors throughout the United States. The application asks students to reflect upon their most significant life challenge and how they overcame or continue to deal with the challenge. Candidates and their essays are evaluated by a volunteer review committee of more than 30 professionals and educators from throughout the country.
Since the inception of the program, RSF has awarded over $12,000 in college scholarships to 15 deserving graduating seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, and initiative in school and community affairs and merits academic achievement. The program also seeks to honor the memory of Richie Herskowitz who was just months short of high school graduation at the time of his death.
