Just in time for the Holiday Season, Richie's Spirit Foundation announced that it will award $3,000 in financial assistance grants to the families of pediatric patients affected by organ transplantation. This is the largest single year award amount in the Foundation's history.
A total of seven patients ranging from 4 to 18 years of age will receive funding. Patients are currently under the care of one of RSF's two partner hospitals: St. Louis Children's Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital. Patients and their families, with the support of a hospital social worker, submitted applications for funding and expressed significant need for financial support. Awards range from $225 to $525 and are given in the form of gift cards for airfare and groceries.
These grants are possible only because of the generous support of our generous contributors from throughout the country. Our recipient families express their sincere gratitude:
"I cannot thank Richie's Spirit Foundation enough for this grant. I have not been able to work as my daughter needs 24 hour care. As a single Mom of two kids, it has been next to impossible to provide all that is needed. The grocery money will save me as I do not know when I will be able to go back to work. Thank you!"
"I want to thank you all so much. It is such a blessing to receive this support. Our daughter recently had a double lung transplant as is doing great. This gift card will allow us to help get her home and give her a wonderful Christmas dinner! Thank you, again, for what you have done for our family."
